Announcing Call for Entries on Hero’s Best Friend Anthology

Seventh Star Press announces a call for entries on Hero’s Best Friend: An Anthology of Animal Companions.   Edited by Scott Sandridge, the speculative fiction anthology brings the spotlight to the noble animal companions of heroic characters.
Hero’s Best Friend welcomes stories of between 2,000 and 10,000 words from all genres of speculative fiction.  All kinds of cultural settings, types of animals, and genres are encouraged for these tales.  The stories should center on the perspective of the animal, in the way that a story would focus on Shadowfax rather than Gandalf, to use one well-known example of a heroic character and animal companion.
Residing in Ohio, editor and author Scott M. Sandridge’s first short story, “Treecutter,” was published in The Sword Review in July 2005. Since then, he’s gone on to publish over 26 more short stories, and over 60 reviews. He has also been a columnist for the Double-Edged Publishing webzines, a Submissions Editor for Ray Gun Revival, and the Managing Editor of Fear and Trembling.  Scott is also an active blogger whose site can be found at: https://smsand.wordpress.com
Hero’s Best Friend will be released in trade paperback and eBook formats in late 2013.  The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2013, and full information on the anthology can be found at http://www.seventhstarpress.com/submissions/

Writerly Upate 12/9/08 – Two Stories Published (1 in Antho)

You can find “Demons Without, Demon Within” at Mindflights, a nice action-packed tale with a relevant theme. Also, don’t be shy in ordering The Best of Everyday Fiction 2008, where you’ll find 100 (count’em 100!) of the best flash fiction from the webzine, Everyday Fiction–including “The Philosopher in the Dark” by, well, me of course ;). You can also get a copy from Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and request it at your local bookstore.

Well, I moved again (getting evicted sucks btw), which is why I’m behind on getting stuff done. I’m also limited on internet access until I can get a router. But, on the bright side, I now have a mic working, so I can finally get back to finishing the podiobook. That’s all for now. 🙂

Writerly Update 12/2/08

Got some big news for you all.

1) “Demons Without, Demon Within” will be appearing at Mindflights this Friday. It’s about a soldier who discovers that the historical reasons for the war he’s fighting in was all a big lie. So go check it out and leave comments in the forum!

2) Yours Truly just got interviewed for an article about Christian horror that’ll be in Rue Morgue Magazine. I’ll let you know when it comes out.

There’s been some progress on the second book for The Messiahs War trilogy, but it’s coming along slow due to all the other things I’m involved in. Of course, having to move yet again doesn’t help either, but what can you do when facing eviction? I’m still trying to get a mic to work on my silly PC. Apparently, the problem isn’t the microphone but the computer itself. I do so hate having to delay things. 😦
